Write Notes of Encouragement
R1:99 facilitates a weekly Grief & Loss program for 45 men and women in the Residential Substance Abuse Treatment unit at the DC Jail. Recovery is challenging, and participants often struggle to stay positive and recognize their own progress. You can make a meaningful impact by writing short notes of encouragement. Over the years, we’ve found that this small act of kindness is deeply healing for both the person receiving the note and the person writing it. This opportunity is open to both individuals and groups and takes about two hours.

Become an Ambassador
AMBASSADORS OF RESTORATION ONE NINETY-NINE PROGRAM
Be a Leader. Be a Changer. Be a Defender
We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God.
-2 Corinthians 5:20 -
WHY SHOULD YOU BE AN AMBASSADOR OF RESTORATION?
You are beyond busy, but we know that you have a passion to restore justice to survivors of complex trauma.
Does the issue of complex trauma seem daunting, complex, and overwhelming? Do you often ask yourself, “What can I possible do that will make a difference?”
As an Ambassador of Restoration, you will become inspired, build meaningful relationships, and join others as you carry out the mission of R1:99. R1:99 will equip you to transform the lives of those trapped in complex trauma by giving you the right tools and insights to be effective in the battle of complex trauma.
Whether your interest lies in research, public policy, counseling, event planning, marketing, or economic empowerment, the Ambassadors of Restoration Program (ARP) has the expertise to train you in creating a culture of trauma-informed care that is so important for survivors’ success.
Once you have completed ARP, you will have the opportunity to become a leader of a small group, serve on R1:99’s advisory team, or become a mentor to a survivor.
FAQ
Who is an Ambassador of Restoration?
A Christ follower interested in responding to God's call for justice in the fight against complex trauma Being an ambassador is a great non-direct service opportunity to gain and promote awareness of various aspects of this issue and support the services offered by R1:99.
Is an application required to become an Ambassador of Restoration?
Yes. To ensure that those who represent R1:99 in the community are persons who demonstrate a strong evident faith in Jesus Christ and application of biblical principles to their lives, we ask that potential Ambassadors of Restoration fill out an application as well as sign the code of conduct.
What exactly does an Ambassador do?
The Ambassador Program provides an opportunity to receive training on the issues related to complex trauma as well as the opportunity to speak directly with those working in the front lines.
Ambassadors are provided with a set of resources with cutting edge information about the various aspects of complex trauma. Ambassadors attend monthly online group meetings to discuss the topic of the month. These meetings are great forums to process the complexities of this issue in a supportive way, pray for survivors, and brainstorm ways to promote awareness.
Can an Ambassador provide direct service to victims of complex trauma?
We may be able to offer direct service opportunities after the Ambassador demonstrates a commitment to the Ambassador Program and the mission of R1:99. However, it should be reiterated that direct contact with survivors of complex trauma is not the goal of the Ambassador Program – this is an opportunity to learn about the issues so you can discover where God is leading you to serve (directly or indirectly).
How does an Ambassador provide support to Restoration One Ninety-Nine?
Ambassadors are greatly encouraged to attend, volunteer at and invite others to participate in various Restoration awareness events. These events are tangible ways to help spread awareness and education throughout the community, so we depend on the participation of our ambassadors.
What should I expect as an outcome of participating in the Ambassadors of Restoration Program?
It is our hope that after participating in this program training and having processed through the issues with online group, you will prayerfully consider where God is leading you to serve in this arena. We believe the outcome will be different for every individual, according to God’s calling and equipping. it might be raising awareness/education; for others, it might lead to an interest in public speaking. We can’t predict what the outcome will be for you, specifically, our experience has proven that there is a place in the battle for everyone who has desire to help put an end to complex trauma!
