Notes of Encouragement:

The power of spreading Hope

 

Thank you for your heart to encourage participants in our programs. Many of those we serve have rarely—if ever—received words of affirmation from adults in their lives, so your kindness makes a lasting impact. We often hear from participants long after they graduate, letting us know they still cherish and keep every card they received. The time you invest in writing them means more than you know.

Do's

• · Make it personal and meaningful. Write as you would to a good friend or family member. Keep it brief, but thoughtful. Focus on uplifting truths they need to hear, such as:

• o "You are important and have so much to offer."

• o "You are special, and there is a bright future ahead of you."

• · Express your support. Let them know you are praying for them and thank them for taking the courageous step to reach out to R1:99 for help.

• · Reflect love and truth. Not all participants share a Christian faith. We want every card to fully represent the warmth, truth, and love of Jesus without sounding overly preachy or generic.

• · Use Scripture thoughtfully (or not at all). A single, short verse can be powerful, but scripture is not required. Because you are writing with love, God’s encouragement will naturally shine through your words.

Don'ts

• · Do not mention "sin" or "forgiveness." These words can unintentionally make readers feel judged or condemned rather than encouraged.

• · Do not include envelopes. Our team reviews all notes before distribution to ensure they are appropriate for the facility environment.

• · Do not attach sharp objects or heavy decorations. Avoid anything that could pose a safety risk to participants or staff.
